Thematic Webinar: How is Covid-19 affecting Europe and the world – the geopolitical dimension

While health implications and economic consequences of Covid-19 are seemingly destructive, the political and geopolitical challenges are harder to foresee and potentially long-lasting.
Many academics predict the possibility of a «new world», less open, free and democratic, giving the way to forces of protective nationalism and strengthening the status of nation-states. The pandemic, also having effects to international relations, in some fragile parts of the world it may fuel local conflicts and cause new waves of immigration.

The European Network of Political Foundations and the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy hosted a webinar, exploring these implications focusing also on the question about the impact of the pandemic to the future of Europe and the need of better coordinated responses to global challenges.
