Capacity-building Training on Hate Speech

The training will take place online on 23 and 24 March 2021 from 09:30 to 13:00 CET and it will address concrete examples, tactics and strategies of how to respond to hate speech. Participants will familiarise with counter-actions possible within a framework of choices and tools to determine which action is the most suitable in given circumstances.

Draft Agenda

The training team is composed of two trainers, Giuseppe Milazzo and Giovanna Maiola, and an IT expert Giorgio Grasso. They are all trainers and researchers at the Osservatorio di Pavia, an internationally recognised institute for the analysis and research on mass communication and election campaigns. Its main objective is the promotion of social, cultural and political pluralism. Both Ms Maiola and Mr Milazzo have over 20 years of experience as researchers, trainers, lecturers and analysts for national institutions and international organisations, media and civil society organisations, on human rights as well as media coverage of conflicts and humanitarian crises, disinformation and dangerous/hate speech.
