The European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) welcomes the Joint Communication of the European Commission and High Representative to the Council on the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy 2020-2024.
With the adoption of the Council Conclusions on Democracy in October 2019, the European Union delivered a strong political message about its ambitions for democracy in external relations.
We therefore believe that the new EU Action Plan should operationalise these ambitions both by emphasizing democracy and human rights equally in the document and by including the relevant civic and political actors in the process of implementation.
Our statement highlights these important issues and provides concrete recommendations to the implementation of the Action Plan.
The European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) welcomes the positions and contributions of the Council and Parliament on the Conference on the Future of Europe, and encourages next steps towards the adoption of a Joint Declaration with the European Commission that will define the concept, structure and scope of the Conference.
With this statement, we would like to share 10 Recommendations that we consider fundamental for the success of the Initiative. We see the Conference as a remarkable opportunity to engage European citizens in an inclusive dialogue about Europe, our core values of democracy, solidarity, tolerance and our common future.
