SUMMARY:We Shall Lead Goes on Tour: Ghana’s Universities Tour
DESCRIPTION:The WYDE Political Parties documentary We Shall Lead is embarking on a university screening tour across Ghana\, bringing powerful stories of young people and women shaping political leadership in Africa directly to students and emerging leaders. \nRunning from 17 October to November 2026\, the We Shall Lead Campus Film & Dialogue Tour will combine documentary screenings with interactive discussions\, personal storytelling and opportunities for students to engage with questions of political participation\, leadership and democratic change. \nThe initiative is part of WYDE Political Parties\, led by the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) and funded by the European Union\, with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Ghana Office. \n  \n \n  \nBeyond the Screen: Turning Stories into Conversations \nWe Shall Lead: Voices Shaping the Future of Africa brings together personal experiences and perspectives on the opportunities\, barriers and determination shaping women’s and young people’s political leadership across Africa. \nRather than limiting the documentary to traditional screenings\, the university tour seeks to use these stories as a starting point for meaningful conversations about democracy\, governance\, civic responsibility and the role of young people in shaping their communities and political institutions. \nEach campus event will feature a documentary screening followed by a moderated dialogue\, giving students an opportunity to share their perspectives\, ask questions and explore how the experiences portrayed in the film connect with their own realities. \nA distinctive feature of the tour is the involvement of Ghana’s 30 WYDE programme participants\, who will contribute as peer facilitators\, sharing their experiences and encouraging conversations with fellow young people about political engagement and leadership. \nBy connecting documentary storytelling with peer-led dialogue\, the initiative aims to inspire students to see political participation not as something distant or reserved for established leaders\, but as an opportunity to contribute to decisions that shape their societies. \n  \nCampus Tour Schedule \nThe tour will visit several major higher education institutions and student gatherings across Ghana: \n\n17 October – NUGS Congress\n22 October – Accra Technical University (ATU)\n23 October – University of Professional Studies\, Accra (UPSA)\n29 October – Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)\n4 November – Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)\n6 November – University for Development Studies (UDS)\nDate to be confirmed – University of Ghana\n\nBeyond the individual screenings\, the tour aims to strengthen connections among students\, young political leaders and civic actors\, creating opportunities for continued engagement and exchange. \nBy bringing We Shall Lead into university spaces\, WYDE Political Parties seeks to extend the documentary’s impact beyond the screen\, encouraging a new generation to reflect on leadership\, challenge barriers to participation and take an active role in shaping Africa’s democratic future. \n\nEvent Details \n\nEvent: We Shall Lead – Ghana Campus Film & Dialogue Tour 2026\nDates: 17 October – November 2026 (University of Ghana date to be confirmed)\nLocation: Selected universities and student gatherings across Ghana\nLed by: European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP)\nSupported by: Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Ghana Office\nDocumentary production: CAD Productions\nProject: WYDE Political Parties – funded by the European Union\nParticipants: University students\, emerging young leaders and WYDE programme participants\nFormat: Documentary screenings\, moderated campus dialogues\, peer-led discussions and interactive Q&A sessions\nMain topics: Youth political leadership\, women’s political participation\, democracy\, civic engagement and inclusive political institutions.

SUMMARY:Building Cross-Party Women's Political Networks to Advance Electoral Reforms in Kenya
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn October 2026\, The Oslo Center (TOC) will facilitate the establishment and development of two women’s political networks in Kenya\, bringing together representatives from six political parties to strengthen collective advocacy and advance reforms affecting women’s participation in electoral politics. \nThe initiative forms part of WYDE Political Parties\, led by the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) and funded by the European Union. \nDespite progress in promoting women’s political participation\, structural barriers continue to affect their ability to secure nominations\, finance electoral campaigns and compete effectively for political office. \nRecognising that many of these challenges extend beyond individual political parties\, the initiative seeks to strengthen collective advocacy and coordinated action among women political leaders\, creating spaces for cooperation around shared reform priorities. \nTwo structured networks will be supported through the programme. The Broad-Based Women Network will bring together representatives from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)\, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Kenya African National Union (KANU)\, while the United Opposition Women Network will include representatives from Wiper Democratic Movement\, Jubilee Party and Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP). \nEach network will bring together 15 women representatives\, with five participants from each political party. \nThe initiative will begin with separate residential retreats\, during which participants will work on establishing their networks’ organisational structures\, terms of reference\, operating procedures and coordination mechanisms. \nThese initial sessions will be followed by structured working meetings aimed at developing joint policy statements and practical recommendations on five priority areas: \n\nImproving the identification and recruitment of women candidates.\nAddressing barriers to campaign financing.\nReforming internal party nomination processes.\nExploring joint campaign strategies.\nPreventing and responding to violence against women in politics.\n\nBy bringing together women from different political backgrounds\, the programme aims to strengthen their collective bargaining power within party structures and create opportunities for coordinated advocacy on issues that affect women across the political spectrum. \nThe expected outcome is not simply the creation of new networks\, but the development of functional platforms capable of advancing shared policy priorities and supporting institutional reforms that improve women’s electoral competitiveness. \nThrough this initiative\, WYDE Political Parties continues to support women’s political leadership\, strengthen cross-party cooperation and encourage collective approaches to building more inclusive political institutions in Kenya. \n  \n\n  \nEvent Details \n\nActivity: Joint Advocacy Models on Key Women’s Reform Issues through Coalition Networks\nPeriod: October 2026\nLocation: Kenya\nImplemented by: The Oslo Center (TOC)\nProject: WYDE Political Parties – led by ENoP and funded by the European Union\nParticipating parties: UDA\, ODM\, KANU\, Wiper Democratic Movement\, Jubilee Party and DCP\nParticipants: 30 women political representatives\, organised into two networks of 15 members each\nFormat: Two residential retreats followed by structured working meetings\nMain topics: Women’s political representation\, candidate recruitment\, campaign financing\, party nomination reforms\, joint campaign strategies and violence against women in politics\nExpected outcomes: Establishment of two operational women’s political networks and development of joint policy statements and recommendations on priority electoral reforms.\n\n
