The event, organised under the <strong data-start=\"701\" data-end=\"735\">WYDE Political Parties Project<\/strong> and co-implemented by the <strong data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"809\">Center Party International Foundation (CIS)<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"868\">Institute for Governance and Development (IGD)<\/strong>, will bring together political party representatives from <strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"956\">Senegal and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/strong> for a week of dialogue, exchange, and peer learning.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1075\"><strong data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1075\">Understanding the Dynamics of Political Alliances<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1525\">In contemporary political systems\u2014whether democratic, semi-authoritarian, or in transition\u2014political alliances play a central role in structuring power, strengthening representativeness, and shaping governance. In West Africa, where political competition often takes place in complex socio-political contexts, alliances between parties have become essential instruments to build coalitions, ensure stability, and broaden democratic participation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1922\">The conference will explore the <strong data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1637\">formation, sustainability, and strategic management of political alliances<\/strong>, analysing both their opportunities and their challenges. It aims to deepen understanding of how ideological differences, leadership ambitions, and electoral contexts influence these processes, while promoting constructive dialogue between parties that share democratic aspirations.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"1970\"><strong data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1970\">A Space for Exchange and Learning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"2233\">Over five days, participants from major political parties in Senegal and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire will engage in <strong data-start=\"2074\" data-end=\"2134\">interactive panels, group work, and simulation exercises<\/strong> designed to enhance their analytical and negotiation skills. The agenda includes discussions on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2293\">The <strong data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2267\">genesis and durability<\/strong> of political alliances;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2293\"><strong data-start=\"2296\" data-end=\"2328\">Inclusion of women and youth<\/strong> in alliance-building processes;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2293\"><strong data-start=\"2365\" data-end=\"2414\">Managing ideological and personal differences<\/strong> within coalitions; and<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2293\">The role of alliances in <strong data-start=\"2467\" data-end=\"2506\">consolidating democratic governance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2511\" data-end=\"2641\">A simulation on coalition negotiation will allow participants to apply lessons learned in a practical and collaborative setting.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2693\"><strong data-start=\"2652\" data-end=\"2693\">A Regional Platform for Collaboration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2695\" data-end=\"3125\">This conference represents a <strong data-start=\"2724\" data-end=\"2762\">milestone for regional cooperation<\/strong> under the WYDE Political Parties Project, offering an opportunity to strengthen relationships between parties across borders and promote inclusive political dialogue in West Africa.
