Six Kenyan Political Parties to Advance the Institutional Adoption of Women and Youth Training Manuals
Between 8 and 20 September 2026, six political parties in Kenya will take part in a series of institutional meetings aimed at securing the formal endorsement and adoption of training manuals designed to strengthen their internal Women and Youth Leagues.
The initiative is implemented by The Oslo Center (TOC) in collaboration with the Christian Democratic International Center (KIC), within the framework of WYDE Political Parties, led by the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) and funded by the European Union.
The activity builds on work carried out in 2025, when TOC and KIC developed party-specific training manuals and delivered pilot Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes for six political parties: the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF), Jubilee Party, Kenya African National Union (KANU), United Democratic Alliance (UDA), and Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP).
While these manuals represent an important step in strengthening the capacities of women and young political leaders, their long-term impact depends on their integration into the parties’ own institutional structures.
To support this process, TOC will organise six individual meetings with party leadership, including representatives of the Women and Youth Leagues. Each meeting will take place at the respective party’s headquarters and focus on presenting the manuals, securing formal endorsement and defining how they can be integrated into internal training systems.
Formal adoption will be documented through endorsement by senior party leadership, followed by the handover of the manuals to the relevant internal training units or league representatives.
Beyond the approval of training materials, the initiative seeks to encourage political parties to take greater ownership of leadership development and establish more systematic opportunities for women and young people to strengthen their political capacities.
By embedding these resources within party structures, the activity aims to ensure that training and capacity-building can continue beyond the WYDE project cycle, contributing to stronger internal party democracy and more inclusive political institutions.
