This book underscores the significance of agroforestry in climate change mitigation. It challenges outdated development approaches and urges integration of traditional agroforestry practices into modern policies. Emphasising agroforestry’s resilience and biodiversity benefits, it calls for a coherent EU-wide agricultural policy prioritising agroforestry landscapes, as a climate-smart land-use solution within the EU’s policy framework. By aligning with EU strategies for climate change, biodiversity, and ecological orientation, agroforestry can become a vital tool in addressing rural depopulation, agriculture intensification, and forest fires.
